Anyway… why are the boxes all dainty and soft? It’s all pastel pink, pastel blue, flowers, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I like pastels and soft colours, but I think there’s a lot of untapped potential here.

Think about it. I bleed for days on end. Without dying. That’s pretty fucking metal.

So why can’t boxes for tampons and pads look like a heavy metal album cover or something?

I’m thinking something completely over the top. You know, like in the tradition of Powerthirst and Epic Meal Time. I’m talking lasers and zombies and dinosaurs and sharks here.

Upcoming Resident Evil game stars a middle aged, single mother.

How fucking cool is this? Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a squad-based shooter featuring six playable Umbrella commandos. The leader of the unit is woman named Lupo.

A female squad leader in a modern day shooter? I was pleasantly surprised, until I read her backstory:

Karena Lesproux, codenamed “Lupo”, was an operative of the Umbrella Security Service, who participated in the Raccoon City incident.

She is an experienced French Special Forces Operative who left soldiering to focus on raising a family with her ‘dream man’. Unfortunately, her husband was abusive and violent towards her, something she tolerated for the sake of her children thanks to her training and discipline. Things escalated when he laid hands on the children – at which point Lupo snapped and killed him with her bare hands.

She was acquitted by a sympathetic judge and tried to embark on life as a single mother – something she singularly failed to do. The real world is no place for a trained killer. Lupo’s instincts proved too strong, soldiering was in her blood. With that, she returned to work as a private contractor, protecting, controlling and killing for the highest bidder.

Lupo currently leads Umbrella Security Service Delta Team, better known as the ‘Wolfpack,’ and she demands the same discipline and obedience that she expects from her own children. This approach has earned her the nickname Wolf Mother.

And now I’m absolutely ecstatic. How often to video games put woman like this in any kind of meaningful role, much less a leading one? I’m really, really impressed with this creative decision. Huge kudos to Capcom and Slant Six.
